Bio:
Holding
four degrees, three certifications, and many awards, Dr.
Johnson has over 13 years of teaching and administrative
experience with Distance Learning, teaching for Troy State
University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and the
University of Maryland, Asian Division. Dr. Johnson's
Associate of Science Degree in Music Education and her
Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Education are
from the University of the State of New York. Her Master
of Arts degree in Human Resource Development is from Webster
University in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Johnson's
Doctorate in Computer Technology in Education Degree is from
Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
She holds a Distance Learning Certification from the
University of West Georgia, a Network Administrator
Certification from the University of Maryland, Asian Division
and a Certified Online Program Planner from LERN. Dr.
Johnson's accomplishment include the 2001 Alabama Distance
Learning Symposium's Best Presentation Award, the 2000
International Who's Who of Information Technology, the 1997
and 1998 Who's Who of International Professionals, the 1994
Who's Who Among American Teacher's Award, and the 1992 Who's
Who National Dean's List award.
Dr.
Johnson's teaching experiences include both international and
U.S. based students and has taught in Okinawa, Japan; many
locations in the Far East, Honolulu, Hawaii, and in several
locations in Texas and Alabama. Many of her Distance
Learning students have resided in other countries while taking
her Online courses. Countries include: Korea, China,
Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines, Samoa, Singapore and Australia.
As
the Dean of Distance Learning, Dr. Johnson is responsible for
the promotion, development, and administration of Distance
Learning academic degree programs for the Troy State
University System. She is responsible for
the Quality Assurance and Academic Excellence for all Distance
Learning programs at TSU which include 8 fully Online
Undergraduate degree programs, the eArmy University Program,
Live into Television courses, Contract for Degree Courses,
Videocourses, Telecourses, Web Enhanced courses, Interactive
Conference courses, and Live-Class-on Tape courses. A
part of University College, TSU offers degree programs at more
than 50 sites -- predominately on military basis -- in 14
states and five countries.
The
Distance Learning Center in Troy consists of 6 Online Master
level degree programs and Live Interactive Videoconferencing
classes for the Master of Science in Nursing and the Master of
Education. Also included in the Distance Learning Center
is the Southeast Alabama Technology Network (SEAL).The course
delivery system for the SEAL Network has been designed using
two different mediums: #1 Internet and Blackboard Software
& #2 - V-Tel Videoconferencing equipment as the main
interface between students and
course
content, students and instructors, and students and other
students. The SEAL program has networked 19 K-12
schools and Junior Colleges in Southeastern Alabama.
The
Mother of 4 boys and the wife of a US Air Force Pilot, Dr.
Johnson's hobbies include digital imaging and singing.
